Remember, you are not DQ’ing any athletes. You are observing the lanes you are assigned, and the Referee is the person who makes the final decision if a swimmer should be disqualified. Remember, you are in the swimmer retention program…. Each DQ is put into a report and this report is distributed to the coaches who in turn work on fixing the issue that caused the DQ… no call no fix, and eventually the athlete quits (historically in the 11-12 age group) because it is not “cool” to swim i.e. they are embarrassed because they cannot execute the stroke legally. Help us keep these kids in Summer swim!
